A white dress shirt and burgundy silk necktie transform this kimono into business attire. The navy pinstripe fabric is by John Foster, a British company founded in 1819 which won medals for its cloth at the Great Exhibition in 1851. Designer Fujikiya Mikisuke (b.1980) was trained as a tailor but has made it his mission to encourage more men to wear kimono. This ensemble was specially created for the V&A.
