In 1979, Simpson's, the London department store in Piccadilly that sold men's wear designed and made by S. Simpson Ltd, held an exhibition of designs for day and evening wear by 25 leading British designers. With the generous agreement of the designers involved, Simpson's decided to offer the entire show to the Museum. Adel Rootstein and Richard Hopkins gave the collection of mannequins featured in the show. This design by Wendy Dagworthy combines the finest quality wools into an elegant, yet practical day outfit.

Physical description
This ensemble uses a variety of top quality wools. The chic black and white is punctuated by the red of the soft suede belt. The skirt is narrow and straight cut and the simple black shirt has contrasting white buttons.

Accessorised with felt hat, leather gloves and red suede belt. Silk handkerchief, leather shoes. Full set of faux pearl jewellery, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings and hatpin.

The complete ensemble was donated in 1979 with a customised Adel Rootstein mannequin specially made for the purpose of modelling it. This was part of a group of 25 such total ensembles donated in 1979.
