Historical context | The sketches SD.394-SD.400 are connected with the publication The Holy Land Painted by John Fulleylove, R.I. Described by John Kelman, M.A., 1902 and with a series of watercolours and drawings exhibited at The Fine Art Society, The Holy Land from Hebron to the Lake of Galilee, March 1902 (exhibition no.246). This drawing was probably number 42A in that exhibition. It was a preliminary drawing for the watercolour reproduced in Fulleylove & Kelman, Pl.77, and exhibited at the Fine Art Society, 1902 (72), titled The Judean Desert And The Dead Sea From The Highest Point Of The Mount Of Olives. The watercolour is now in Jordan: see `On the Banks of the Jordan', exhibition catalogue, 1986, (17). |
