Historical context
The sketches SD.394-SD.400 are connected with the publication The Holy Land Painted by John Fulleylove, R.I. Described by John Kelman, M.A., 1902 and with a series of watercolours and drawings exhibited at The Fine Art Society, The Holy Land from Hebron to the Lake of Galilee, March 1902 (exhibition no.246). This drawing was probably number 51 in that exhibition. Reproduced in Fulleylove & Kelman, Pl.30, with the title Jerusalem.-The Interior Of The Golden Or Beautiful Gate.
