Martin Parr (born 1952)
The Last Resort
1983–85

Since the early 1970s, Parr has been taking photographs of familiar, suburban areas, offering a commentary on British ways of life. His series The Last Resort focused on families at a seaside holiday resort in New Brighton, Merseyside. The elderly couple seen here enjoying their bag of chips and flask of tea seem unperturbed by the rubbish that surrounds them.
