Picture Post Vol. I No. 10
3 December 1938
The photojournalist Robert Capa is best known for his iconic depictions of war. He co-founded the photographer-run agency Magnum Photos, and his pictures were widely disseminated through the illustrated press. The magazine Picture Post, which reported extensively on conflicts around the world from a liberal, anti-Fascist perspective, was published in the UK between 1938 and 1957. Its innovative graphic approach to reportage and dynamic use of photography captured the public’s attention. The magazine’s circulation reached 1.7 million people within six months of its first issue.
