Helmut Völter (born 1978) and Masanao Abe (1891–1966) The Movement of Clouds around Mt. Fuji: Photographed and Filmed by Masanao Abe 2016 Masanao Abe was a Japanese physicist who observed and recorded changing cloud formations surrounding Mount Fuji between 1926 and 1941. He collected a substantial archive of photography and film, which remained undiscovered until the German artist Helmut Völter encountered it during his own research into cloud studies. In this book, Völter collates and reimagines Abe’s images, transforming them from meteorological samples into formal, artistic pictures. Print book NAL: 38041017040411
