This detective camera was disguised as a leather bound book that would hold a supply of twenty-four dry plates, which could be exposed without opening the camera. This camera captured square images 40mm x 40mm in size. It was fitted with an achromatic Voigtlander lens and a guillotine shutter providing time and instantaneous exposures. The photographer was intended to carry the camera under their arm and the lens can either be pointed in front or toward the rear.
