Written by Bertolt Brecht in 1941, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui chronicles the rise to power of fictional Chicago gangster Arturo Ui. The play serves as a satirical allegory of the rise of Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany during the 1930s. The 2017 production at the Donmar Warehouse, adapted by Bruce Norris and starring Lenny Henry in the title role, also satirised the newly elected President Donald Trump.
