Born in New Zealand, Hester Frood (1882-1971) came to England at the age of seven and spent her youth near Exeter in Devon. In 1906 she met the influential printmaker D.Y.Cameron who was impressed with work, encouraged her, and taught her etching. Her work was exhibited widely at the Royal Scottish Academy and at the Royal Academy in London. Her subject include rural scenes in the UK and views of buildings in France and Spain.
