Dress designed by Mary Quant for Ginger Group in about 1969. It is made in synthetic lace with a floral design. This design, ‘Meringue’, reveals the change in Quant’s designs at the end of the 1960s as she began to use more prints and patterns in her designs. ‘Meringue’ was photographed in 1969 for marketing and press material and a copy of the photograph, with its accompanying press information, is held in Mary Quant’s archive. The press sheet states that the collection sees ‘Mary switch[es] to the sound of the ‘70s’.

The press photograph from Ginger Group indicates this design may have come with a belt, which is now missing, although the dress does not have belt loops and so this may be a different version of the design.



A press photograph of this dress exists, the marketing information on the back notes the dress is called 'Meringue' and is available in sizes 7-13. It was priced at 9 gns.
