Clarke, Travels in various countries of Europe Asia And Africa, Part II, Greece Egypt and The Holy Land, Section I, 1812, facing p.616, lettered Bethlehem to the N.E. with the Monastery containing the Cave of the Nativity, to the left., E.D.Clarke del. and Etchd. by Letitia Byrne. Clarke visited the sites depicted in SD.230-SD.233 in July 1801, but may have redrawn these watercolours from sketches made on the spot. |
