Part of a collection of tiles of red earthenware with impressed designs filled with white slip. The whole covered with a clear lead glaze. The designs consist of Latin inscriptions written in Lombardic characters (Pl: E : A : LA : U). Originally from Chertsey Abbey, Surrey. English, made at Chertsey, second half 13th century.
