Object history
Paul Nash was commissioned to design table glass for the exhibitions 'Modern Art for the Table', held at Harrods in 1934 and 'British Art in Industry' at the Royal Academy in 1935. These were part of a government campaign to promote the involvement of modern artists in industrial design. Although critically praised, the designs (manufactured by Stuart Crystal) never went into general production.
