P60 (text opposite to opening of page 61) Drawing Room (Recent Development) A treatment is here shewn by which a room of ordinary shape, with the usual bay window at the end, may be given an individuality and artistic merit often lacking in many rooms originally of better proportion. Attention is drawn to the quaint form of the mantel with the decorative painting above, which with the angle seat fitment on the right are the important features which give interest to the room. The bay window when screened off by the arches forms an attractive alcove, and the entire effect of the room is further improved by the mellow tones of the leaded glass in the windows.
