Ensemble

2016 (designed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Delpozo is a Spanish fashion label, founded in 1974 by Jesús del Pozo in Madrid. He admired the work of Balenciaga above all others and was awarded the Cristóbal Balenciaga award for Best Spanish Designer in 1989. On del Pozo’s death in 2011, the brand changed its name to Delpozo, and Josep Font was appointed as creative director. Delpozo began showing at New York fashion week in 2013, as part of ready to wear week, and as part of resort week in 2017. Josep Font comes from an architectural background, and is interested in shape and volume. He frequently uses materials such as neoprene and wool to create sculptural shapes, and to ensure the clothes have a form of their own.

Delpozo produces ‘demi couture’, or, ‘prêt-à-couture’, described as having the craftsmanship associated with couture, but the pieces are not bespoke.

This ensemble is taken from the Spring 2016 Ready to Wear show in New York, in which structural shapes, owing to Font’s architectural experience, and embellishment were the key messages interpreted by the fashion press.
