Daguerreotype of a half-length portrait of a young woman, resting her right arm on a table. The sitter is identified as Anne White from Reading, aged 25, the wife of C. G. Pike. The daguerreotype is in a gold-coloured mount with an oval window. It has been glazed and is mounted in a leather-coated wooden case lined with red velvet. The front cover is decorated on both recto and verso with floral swirling designs, while the interior edges are decorated in gold leaf. The case is made of two separable halves, with a clasp fastening on the right edge.
