Woman’s apron of lawn, embroidered with cotton thread in chain, darning and buttonhole satin stitches with buttonhole eyelets and areas of drawn-thread work. It is made of 2 lengths of lawn whipped together at centre front. The apron is worked in a repeated, Chinoiserie-inspired design of pheasants, butterflies, rocky promontories, pagodas and fishermen. It is edged with a 1¾-inch (4.4 cm) wide border of Flemish bobbin lace. The apron is shaped at the waist, shorter at centre front than at the sides, pleated and stitched to linen tape. The ties have been cut off.
