Coat of pure wool with a jacquard woven pattern of large checks, shaded blue to grey on a white ground. There is a small turned-down collar and a false half-belt at the back, trimmed with button holes and two silver-coloured buttons.
The coat is flared and slightly shaped at the waist and cut from five panels, emphasised by top-stitching. One panel for the back, one down each side and two at the front.
It is double-breasted with six silver-coloured buttons, and fastens up the left hand side with three buttons, a press-stud at the top and bottom of the row of buttons and one on the corner of the inner lapel. There are two false horizontal pocket-flaps at the front, each decorated with a silver-coloured button.
It is lined throughout.
