Photograph posed on stage of Serge Lifar and Alexandra Danilova in Apollon Musagète, performed by Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, 1928.
Apollon Musagète was first performed at the theatre Sarah Bernhardt, Paris on 12 June 1928 with a score and book by Igor Stravinsky and choreography by George Balanchine. It was first performed in London at His Majesty's Theatre on 24 June 1928. Given the range of photographs of this ballet there appears to have been a photocall for which the dancers posed on stage at which Sasha photographed the ballet.
This pose is from the pas de deux (2.vii)
