Object history | The complete ensemble was donated in 1979 with a customised Adel Rootstein mannequin specially made for the purpose of modelling it. This was part of a group of 25 such total ensembles donated in 1979. The suit is accesorized with a pair of shoes designed by Kenzo, under the 'Jungle Jap' label. Kenzo Takada (b.1939) is a Japanese designer and founder of the Kenzo label. Born in Japan, he studied fashion at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo before moving to Paris in 1965. Takada opened his first store, Jungle Jap, in 1970 at 43 Galerie Vivienne. The label was later re-branded as Kenzo, as the term 'Jap' is considered offensive. |
