British: Clutch Cargo (Sandra Best and Alyce Chadwell), Autumn/Winter 1979
The slim-fitting straight dress (with shaped belt) falls from a striped yoke; it has long sleeves with striped cuffs. The coat is straight, edge to edge at the front without fastenings and has a vandyked yoke. It is seamed at the sides and centre back. These garments, knitted in stocking stitch, illustrate the potential versatility of smaller knitting machines. The technique of holding stitches has been skilfully used to create directional knitting changes, resulting in intricate patterns of diagonals and 'V' shapes.
