Tom Wood (born 1951)
Untitled from the series Looking for Love
1982–86

Wood has photographed the daily life of local communities in Liverpool and Merseyside for almost thirty years. His approach produces candid, in-depth studies of people and places. Here he photographed a now-demolished nightclub in New Brighton. Using a bright flash to counter the dark environment, he captured the colourful partygoers from the perspective of an accepted insider.
