Poster
1983 (printed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Laura Smith's poster 'Gymnast' was one of a set of three prints entitled 'LA Summer Games 84', inspired by the forthcoming Los Angeles Olympic Games of 1984. Others in the set depicted a male cyclist and a female diver. The works were an independent initiative, but were offered by the printers ProCreations to the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee. Smith's original designs for these posters were painted in gouache using an airbrush. A master lithographer at ProCreations then recreated her paintings by airbrushing directly onto the lithographic plates, creating an edition of fine art lithographs.
