This gold Chinese silk dressing gown lined with lamb fur belonged to Moise Abraham Sassoon, who was born in Egypt, on 18th September 1866. Sassoon married his first cousin Rachel (nee Sassoon) in Singapore in 1896. Another dressing gown - kashmiri, pale pink with bright blue embroidery - which belonged to Rachel, was given to the Victoria & Albert Museum by their granddaughter.
