The print shows Romeo, played by Henry Irving in a dark coloured embroidered tunic with dark tights, with an emphasised head and hair, looking up towards Juliet on the balcony. Juliet, played by Ellen Terry, is leaning over the balcony looking towards Romeo. The print includes the line: "Romeo! Romeo! Wherefore Art Thou Romeo!", followed by the comment 'But had the Divine Williams witnessed the performance, he might have been able to satisfy his own query'. |
