Created to commemorate the centenary of Lewis Carroll's birth. Lewis Carroll's text rather than images are found on the peepshow panels. The illusion of depth is created by shrinking the size of the text which is printed onto the panels. In addition to the text, the die-cut holes in the middle of the panels becoming increasingly smaller.

Physical description
Accordion-folding peepshow with 11 cut-out panels. lino-cut bellows with die-cut, letter press panels with Lewis Carroll's text 'Either the well was very deep or she fell very slowly'; 'For she had plenty of time as she went down to look around her and to wonder.'Back panel: square board printed with 'Thump! Thump!' printed on it and attached to two paper flaps, which form its cover.

Object history
Created to commemorate the centenary of Lewis Carroll's birth. This is no. 39 of 40 copies made.
Part of the Jacqueline and Jonathan Gestetner Collection, collected over 30 years and given to the V&A Museum through the government's Cultural Gift Scheme in 2016.
