Object history | An original design croquis (sketch) by Suzan Rooke for Kenzo shows a cropped version of this jacket/cardigan in mirror image - the fastening goes in the opposite direction, but the design and pattern are otherwise identical. In execution, we can see that about six inches of additional striped pattern were added to the hem of the garment, and the pattern was reversed so that it fastens in the opposite direction. The sketch is now in the Prints, Drawings and Paintings department. The design was located immediately after drawings for another jumper (T.57-2017) that has been pinned down to late 1994, so it may also date from then. - Daniel Milford-Cottam (02/03/2017) |
