Poster
1977 (printed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This poster advertises an entertainment called An Evening of Memories, subtitled: 'in which Dr. Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket recall Thirty Glorious Years'. It was devised and performed in drag by George Logan and Patrick Fyffe (1942-2002).

Logan and Fyffe teamed up in 1972 when they earned a cult following for their drag performances in pubs and clubs as the elderly lady singing duo Dr. Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket, who supposedly became friends when performing with the Rosa Charles Opera Company, with a proclivity for Gilbert and Sullivan and numbers from the big musicals of the 1930s. Their act was a hit at the 1974 Edinburgh Festival, after which they were invited to perform their show An Evening With Hinge and Bracket at the Royal Court Theatre. After a two-week sellout run there, the show transferred to the Mayfair Theatre where the original four week run was extended to seventeen weeks.
