This poster was acquired as part of the Vera’s Hall archive relating to her career. Vera Joan Hall (1920- 2014) performed as a child in the 1930s in Brighton with Vera Garbutt’s School of Dancing and by the age of 20 was touring professionally as a dancer in the 1940/1941 UK tour of Soir de Paris. From 25th August until December 1941 she toured as one of 'the Flying Colours Beauties' in a UK tour of the revue Flying Colours, including a week in London at the Phoenix Theatre from 13th October. From the end of December until the first week of February 1942 she appeared in the ENSA tour of Sweet and Low, and from 9th February 1942 joined the ENSA tour of Stringing Along,which toured the UK until November 1944 when it opened in Naples and went on to the Middle East where she appeared with it in 1945 and 1946 in Egypt, Iraq and Israel.
The revue also featured the violinist and conductor Joseph de Roode, who had been a conductor of the BBC Variety Orchestra before the war, and who later became Vera Hall's husband. This performance was for one night only, in Portici, a small village and port near Naples.
