Purchased from the artist in 1961.
Historical context
'Le Soleil de minuit' with music by Rimsky-Korsakov and choreography by Massine was first produced in Geneva on 20 December 1915. This production saw not only Massine's debut as a choreographer but also the first work of Larionov as a ballet designer, and both were very successful.
