Gallery label
Cheap Markets It took 40 years for cheaper paperback editions of the Pooh books to appear. When they did, they attracted new audiences to the books and led to a cult following among university students. Methuen’s production manager, Frank Herrmann, recalled that more than two million copies sold in the first 18 months. Contrary to the publisher’s concerns, the paperbacks did not dampen sales of the more expensive hardbacks, which sold at the same rate as before.
