Gallery label | Pooh and Parody
Parody is a sure sign of fame and success. Within a year of the publication of When We Were Very Young, When We Were Rather Older appeared, mischievously echoing the rhythm and pace of its verses.
In The Pooh Perplex, a literature professor mocks his own discipline: ‘Is… [woozle tracking] not the very essence of modern man, aching with existential nausée and losing himself more deeply in despair…?’
Meanwhile Pooh’s ample figure and thoughtful pronouncements inspired a mock exercise book, and humorous philosophy and life management guides.
