Historical context
Illustrated in Vyse, Operations, 1842, vol.III, facing p.7; Perring, Pyramids, 1842, part III, pl.III.
This and SD43 & 44 were based on sketches by E.J. Andrews who accompanied Vyse and Perring to Egypt in 1837: see Vyse, Operations, preface, p.xvi and Perring, Pyramids, part II, pp.4,10.
Although the lithograph is lettered J.S. Perring delt. in Vyse, the style of this drawing is consistent with SD43 & 44.
