| Physical description | Photographic print of a scene from a production of Hamlet, at the Kingsway Theatre, August 25th 1925. The landscape images shows a fencing scene taking place in a large hall with two long windows, a chandelier and dark patterned wallpaper. The two fencers are Hamlet and Laertes, they are both collapsed at the left and centre of the scene. They are being tended too by other characters, and the King played by Frank Vosper can also be seen collapsed on the right side of the steps. The Queen, played by Dorothy Massingham is also collapsed on a seat at the centre of stage. Ophelia, played by Muriel Hewitt in a white dress, kneeling looking at Hamlet in front of her. |
