In 2013, the National Theatre commissioned a number of artists to create a series of posters to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the National Theatre at the Old Vic. The artists included David Carson, Sir Michael Craig-Martin, Graphic Thought Facility, Paula Scher and Jamie Reid.
Paula Scher (born 1948) is an American leading graphic designer, painter and art educator. Her typography work is inspired by Art Deco and Russian Constructivism graphics. Scher’s artwork for poster campaigns includes The Public Theater in New York, The New York City Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera. One of her most celebrated designs is the logo for New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).
