Before the book’s publication in October 1926, several chapters from Winnie-the-Pooh appeared in the monthly Royal Magazine. Milne and Shepard worked together to arrange the text and illustrations, inserting lively scenes within the narrow columns of text. Their playful and attractive page designs for the Royal Magazine became appealing features in the Winnie-the-Pooh book.
