This dress, marketed for several years under the name 'Knight', formed part of John Bates' influential 'Puritan' collection for Jean Varon. It was shown in a contemporary model photograph worn over a long sleeved cream blouse with stiffened, flounced cuffs and a deep collar, with a co-ordinating cap.
