Place of origin |
Bill Green opened his shop 'Vince' in Newburgh Street in 1954. It was the first men's boutique to open in the Carnaby Street area, and traded in continental styles popular with actors and models, such as these French jersey trousers.
John Stephen started work at Vince as a shop assistant in 1957, and saw the potential popularity of more liberated menswear in the mainstream youth market. Building on what he had learned at Vince, he established Carnaby Street as the international source of modish, youthful and 'unisex' fashion - a true 'street' style.
