Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Although still in her 30s, Fujikake Sachi is already one of Japan’s most highly regarded makers of studio glass. She sand-blasts dots onto the surfaces of sheets of white glass and joins these along their edges to create cuboid forms. Inside the mouth of a furnace (glory hole) she blows into these forms to make them swell while at the same time using a burner to cause them to slump and crumple.
