Physical description
Photographic portrait of Ada Wilson, taken by Alfred Ellis, London, mid to late nineteenth century. It features a full length portrait of Wilson who is standing with her left hand on her hip and is holding a tall, narrow staff in her right hand. She is wearing a close fitting, sleevless, bodice which extends into a short skirt over the top of her thighs and includes a trained, open skirt at the rear. She is also wearing a small, pointed cap, and her gaze is directed towards a point in the distance. Both the sleeves and hem of the bodice are embellished with a hanging beads.
