Object history
The Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest considered an export licence application for the bowl in 2015, and recommended that the decision on the license be deferred on the grounds that its departure from the UK would be a misfortune because it was of outstanding significance for the study of Hans Coper and studio pottery in the mid-20th centruy. The bowl was subsequently acquired by the V&A, with funding from the friends of Annabel Freyberg.
