The Pebble became the first commercially successful smartwatch after it raised over $10million on the platform. The Kano Complete computer – a build-your-own computing and coding system – was also backed through Kickstarter. Crowdfunding platforms offer designers alternative ways of reaching a market and give consumers a sense of investment in new and innovative products.
