Copy of the costume design by Wilhelm (1858-1925) for 'Princess Ida' in Act I of the original production of Princess Ida, at the Savoy Theatre, 1884. The design is executed in watercolour on card. It features a full length image of a woman who is standing with her left arm outstretched and upraised. She is wearing a white, long sleeved dress with a close fitting bodice and a pleated skirt. She also has a long, trained, white cloak with a gold lining, which is decorated with a pattern of red, blue and white flowers. She is carrying a book with a deep blue binding in her right hand and is wearing a small crown.
