Printed programme for a variety revue performed by Sun Advertiser Youth Travel aboard the P & O line S.S. 'Strathmore', en route to Adelaide. The programme is dated Wednesday, 20th July, 1952. The card is folded once vertically.

On the front is a colour printed image composed of a collection of motifs in various colours taken from sports and pastimes, including a jockey on a pink spotted horse, hoops, playing cards and dice arranged in rings, cocktail glasses, party hats, a face mask, a chess board and chess piece (knight), saxophone, skateboard, table tennis bats and ball, nets and chinese lanterns, all arranged in a 'bouquet' with a pink and blue spotted ribbon tied in a bow. The images is signed GOULD in blue at bottom right just below the ribbon. Top and bottom borders are each one thick and one thin beige/brown stripe in a wave pattern. In the top border are the words Sports and Entertainments in white in a stylized font following the wave pattern; in the bottom border is 'P & O' in red. The programme has been typed inside in black ink.

Reason For Production: Commission

This menu card was made for a voyage on board the P&O cruise liner "Strathmore" in 1952. Illustrated menus such as this were printed in advance on land with the inside (menu part) left blank, to be printed on board ship. Passengers often kept them as souvenirs. The menus reflect the luxury of cruise liner travel during its heyday. "Strathmore" was built in 1935 for P&O. She was kept until 1963, when the newly merged P&O-Orient Line replaced its pre-war fleet.
