Clive Richards began his career as a technical illustrator, then became increasingly interested in the possibilities provided by the emerging discipline of computer graphics. He produced some of the first computer animations created at a British art school, in Coventry in 1969. This is one of several highly-controlled plotter drawings created by Richards at Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University) in the 1970s.
