This cap sleeve, knee-length dress with side slits at the hem is known as a 'cheongsam' in Cantonese or a 'qipao' in Mandarin. It is made from plain-weave silk with geometric motifs printed in brown, apple green, turquoise and white.

The dress has a stand-up, stiffened collar closed with a metal hook and eye at the front, eight metal snap fasteners across the collarbone to the right side, and a zip-fastener in the side seam.
