This short sleeve, knee-length dress with side slits at the hem is known as a 'cheongsam' in Cantonese or a 'qipao' in Mandarin. It is made from a white synthetic jersey with printed floral designs in shades of brown and yellow.

The dress has a stand-up, stiffened collar that is lined with white plain weave cotton. The collar is closed with a hook and eye at the front. There are seven metal snap fasteners across the collarbone to the right side, and a zip-fastener in the side seam (?).
