This long sleeve, knee-length dress with side slits (20 cm) at the hem is known as a 'cheongsam' in Cantonese or a 'qipao' in Mandarin. It is made from twill weave silk with interlocking swastika pattern, padded, and lined with black silk damask with scrolled design.

The dress has a stiffened collar and fastens at the front with a loop and knot button. The round lapel is secured by eight metal snap fasteners.
