This short sleeve, knee-length dress with side slits at the hem is known as a 'cheongsam' in Cantonese or a 'qipao' in Mandarin. It is made from plain-weave wool in shade of blue, and lined with plain weave black silk.

The dress has a stand-up, stiffened collar closed with a metal hook and eye, seven metal snap fasteners across the collarbone to the right side and a zip-fastener in the side seam.
